The Reason You Still Don't Feel Free
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
You keep chasing freedom, but what if freedom isn't what you think it is?
In this episode, Martin Perdomo reveals the uncomfortable truth that keeps many people stuck: freedom isn't achieved by avoiding responsibility. It's earned by developing the capacity to carry it.
If you've ever felt overwhelmed by pressure, decisions, leadership, or the weight of ownership, this conversation will challenge the way you think about success, authority, and personal growth.
The question isn't whether you want more freedom.
The question is whether you're willing to carry what comes with it.

Freedom Comes With Final Responsibility
Most men say they want freedom, but they don't want the responsibility that comes with it. Welcome back to Wealthy AF, Authority and Freedom. In today's episode, we're going to be talking about freedom requires responsibility. Most men want money, they want authority, they want control, but don't do the weight that comes along with it. And that's why most men never become truly free. Because freedom is not the absence of responsibility. Freedom is the ability to carry more responsibility without losing command. This is the part people don't understand. When you become the principal, the leader, the head of your house, the head of your department, the head of the company, everything finds its way back to you. The permit issues, the lender conditions, the leasing delays, the vendor problems, the unit that isn't ready, the tenant file that needs one more document, the team member waiting for your direction. That's ownership, not theory, not motivation, ownership, real ownership. Most men like the idea of being in charge, but very few like what being in charge actually demands. Because being in charge means there is no one else to blame. You can delegate task, you can delegate follow-up, you can delegate execution, but you cannot delegate final responsibility. That stays with you, my friend. And that's where most men break. Not because they're weak, because they were never trained to carry the weight. They want freedom to feel light. But real freedom requires capacity. One of the things I teach my sons, I have three adult sons, and one of the things I teach my sons is that as you ascend in the ladder of success and status as a man, your capacity to handle stress
Capacity Grows With Pressure
must also expand. Your income and your success as men, our income and success as men increases with our capacity to handle stress and responsibility, the capacity to make decisions, the capacity to absorb pressure, the capacity to hold multiple open loops without becoming emotional, the capacity to stay calm even when everything is not yet resolved. That's the real work. When you look at an operating dashboard, you see the truth. You see open loops, critical items, third-party delays, decisions waiting on you, the principal, the leader. Some items are moving,
The Dashboard That Tells The Truth
some are blocked, some are waiting on lenders, some are waiting on city offices, some are waiting on team members, and some are waiting on you. And if you're not careful, the dashboard becomes a mirror. It shows you exactly where your business is strong and exactly where your leadership is still the bottleneck. Most men, most guys avoid that mirror. They don't want to see the open loops. They don't want to see what's waiting on them. They don't want to see where their delays is slowing down the system. So they stay vague. Vague feels comfortable, but clear feels heavy. Clear is where freedom begins. Because once you see the truth, you can command it. Clarity is power. This is why serious operators build systems. Not because they love spreadsheets, not because they want complexity, but because they refuse to let responsibility live only in their head. If it matters, it needs a place. If it has a deadline, it needs an owner. If it's blocked, it needs an escalation path. If it requires a decision, it needs to be visible. That's how chaos becomes command. And this is where standards matter. A low standards man says, I'll get to it later. A sovereign man says, Who owns it? What is the next step? When is it
Standards That Turn Chaos Into Command
due? What is blocking it? That is not micromanagement. That is leadership. Leadership is not being busy. Leadership is creating clarity under pressure. And if you want authority and freedom, you must become the kind of man who can face the dashboard without flinching. You gotta face your life, face the decisions you have to make, face the hard choices you have to do, you must look at the open loops, you must look at the decisions that are needed to be made, you must look at what is waiting on you, and you must not collapse into emotion. You simply decide, you move the item, you close the loop, you assign the next action, and you protect the system. And that could be the system, could be you, could be your business. Most men want the title. Few want the responsibility. But the responsibility is what builds the title. Authority is not granted. It is earned through repeated command. You earn it every time you make a hard decision, every time you follow through, every time you refuse to let chaos spread through the system. Every time your team knows he sees it, he will decide, he will not panic. That, my man, my gal, my peeps, is leadership. Not noise, not performance, not ego, command. Steady. So here's a question for you Where are you asking for freedom but or avoiding responsibility in your money,
Find The Vague Spot Leaking Power
in your business, in your family, in your marriage, in your health, in your decisions, find a place where you are vague, and that is where you are leaking power. Then make it visible. Write it down. Assign ownership to it. Set a deadline. Make a decision. Close the loop. Freedom is not built by escaping responsibility. Freedom is built by becoming the kind of man who can carry it. This is wealthy AF, authority, freedom, and standards. And if you want real freedom, build the capacity to carry real responsibility.
